Did 20km at the Wagga Relay For Life yesterday. It was a stinking hot day and got up to 39 degrees. Walked from 4.30pm till 8.00pm when the Candle Lighting Ceremony was held. walked for the “Friends of Mine ” team and got a bright yellow t-shirt.
Due to the heat , there didnt seem as many people there this year, but it was still a bugger to try and weave in and out of the traffic. Now I know what the good runners and walkers feel like when there trying to get past me in Ultras.
Food and drink – Had 1 litre of the Verofit Isotonic Drink during the afternoon and 2 cans of softdrink and also had a ham sandwich and sausage sandwich. The Verofit drink seemed to work well in the heat and the taste isnt bad at all.
Ended up with a couple of hotspots on my feet at the end of last night – Even though I had put cream on them! I think the scary thing about the 24hr is the fact that I have been there before and I know what’s going to end up hurting first!…..then second…..then third!
Could have done more last night once it got cooler, but if I do long walks of 25km, 30km and 35km the next three weekends, I wont be too far off the map once it comes to Coburg. A reminder with the Coburg 24hr, im walking for Legacy that day and if you would like to make a donation, please go to: Link and consider making a donation.
