For the last week, the three members of the Canberra Essam family have not been able to log onto their respective Facebook pages on the computer or laptop. (The cut down version seems ok on the phones). I have also tried to log on via firefox/IE 7 and Google Chrome on the computer and IE7 on the laptop!
Did some research on the net and found this interesting article about facebook viruses. http://blog.schipul.com/facebook-users-attacked-by-trojan-virus/
Asked the other two members of the house and neither have done the actions suggested in the web post.
I have run a virus check via nortons and AVG 8 and have found nothing wrong on my computer.
Checked the error console in firefox and there was an error coming up around line 26 of the start up script? Cant copy and paste it here, as I cleared the console last night.
Probably not a bad thing to have time away from facebook, but how do you fix this b………. thing? I run some groups on facebook and the lack of access is starting to irritate.
Any help or suggestions will be gladly appreciated.
PS – Im also having problems with loading yahoo!
Thanks
Phil

I am having the same trouble with facebook. It comes up in what appears to be a “mobile” version or something. REally ugly, and it won’t let me do anything on it. It comes up fine on a different computer. Help?

A circumstance similar to what is described here required a simple solution that took a long time to realize needed fixing. For some reason, the Use of a proxy server was set in the IE which essentially disabled the IE access to the Internet.
