A few weeks ago we decided to go to Sydney for the day.  Belinda and I were both on holidays as wew were originally planning to go to Queensland for thew week. That was cancelled though as we are in the midst of House saving! So Sydney for the day was going to get us away from the constant lawyer, bank , builder circle of the last few weeks and it would be a nice outing!  Laura also got the day off school!

We left Canberra at 7am. It was still very dark and there was a blanket of fog enveloped across the ACT.  We got just out of Canberra and the gears went on the Bus!  The driver pulled over and after about ten minutes he found the gears and we were able to get going again!  We were on our way again!

Got to Sydney about 10.30am , procured a map and headed towards Paddy’s Market. Unfortunately Paddy’s Market was closed but headed towards Market city which was upstairs.  Market City is very much a Chinese version of our normal Shopping Centres.  It very much reminded me of the Komtar in Penang!  Just minus the DVD shops!  I also noticed that the layout and design of the place was very similar to the IT Plaza in Korat, Thailand! Uncanny!

After that we headed towards the Chinese Gardens in Darling Harbour.  Belinda went through them last time we were in Sydney but Laura and I missed out!  What fantastic peaceful place.  Laura took some great photos and here are a couple of them!

After the Chinese Gardens we headed further into Darling Harbour and found something to eat!  This took two attmempts as the first restuarant we went into was a bit overpriced for our budget!  29 dollars was the cheapest main meal!  Success on the second place we went into! Very good Pub meals at 10 dollars a head!  After a nice feed and a sit down we headed for the Ferry and went on a quick ride around the Harbour to Circular Quay.

Once we got to Circular Quay we went and explored the Rocks  for a while.  Very nice walking around the streets there and we went into some of the Galleries which had some great art work in them!  Belinda and I both thought though that the shops in the Rocks were very much aimed at the high end of the Tourist market which is a  shame!

After the Rocks we headed towards George Street and walked up to Central station where the bus departed from at 6pm! Found an excellent  Chinese Shop on George St!  Very genuine religious  symbols for sale and very well priced.  Even had the little prayer dais set up at the rear of the shop as well!  Something else that reminded me of Penang! It was at the end of George Street that I checked my pedometer and saw that I had done 10,000 steps for the day!  I let Belinda and Laura know that they had probably done close to the same!

Was a very long bus ride home and we got back to Canberra just before 10 oçlock!  All in all it was a Great day and we slept very well last night.

Other news from the family – Belinda and I signed the land contract today.  Things are starting to move!  According to the Lawyer the land doesnt exist until the Minister approves it, but I think we shall be right!
